I grew up in the small town of Wahpeton, North Dakota. Ever since I was young I have been drawn to the beauty of music. As an elementary student, music was my favorite class and I jumped at the opportunity to learn an instrument when I went to middle school. During middle school, my band director pushed me to be the best I could and convinced me to audition for the ND All-State Band. Throughout middle and high school, I grew more passionate about music and tried to participate in as much extracurricular activities I could relating to the musical arts. As well as my love for music, I have always been drawn to children. Many of my friends and family tell me that I am a natural caregiver. I love modeling to children how to be kind and respectful to others. When it came time to graduate from high school, my mother asked me "What is it that you enjoy doing? Do something that you like to do." The answer was obvious. I loved being around kids and I loved making music.
My primary instrument is the clarinet, but through my diverse education at the University of Mary, I have had experience playing a variety of woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments. During my education at the University of Mary, I have had opportunities to direct both the band and the choir during rehearsals as well as to instruct the band on a piece from start to finish (including conducting a piece in a concert).
When I am not busy playing music, you can find me with my family and friends. I enjoy the summer and spending my time outside in the sun. I like to swim, go for walks, and be on the water. During the winter I enjoy getting cozy and watching movies or playing games.
